GO FOR YOUR DREAMS!
Joy of Life | Freedom | Courage | Love
Mixed media | Acrylic art work | Photos | Digital Work
1. THE MESSAGE OF THE ARTWORK
Both artworks have the aim to spread JOY, LOVE, FREEDOM and COURAGE to inspire you TO GO FOR YOUR DREAMS WHATEVER IT TAKES.
Tina Turner was a legend and a great inspiration for me since I've read her biography “I, Tina: My Life Story” at the age of fourteen. Her story touched me deeply. With her story she taught me the lesson: No matter how deep I might fall, I have all the strength within myself to get out of the situation and to rise and shine from scratch.
She taught me, too, that a woman can live all her wonderful different facets in one life. She was the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" and at the same time a lady, a wise, sexy and gorgeous woman, a creative visionary person.
Both artworks reflect some of my teenagers' dreams which I have already realized in my life. And some aspects of the artwork make me dreaming again, and hopefully, you, too.
2. WHY DID I SELECT THIS PHOTO OF TINA TURNER?
I came across this photo in her biography which I still have. The photo was taken on one of her happiest days in the Ritz Nightclub in New York in 1984. On this day her song "What's love got to do with it" ranked #1. (source: her above mentioned biography) It was just after she has started her new life.
Therefore it fits so well to the overall message of my artwork which is about courage, freedom, joy and love and to go for your dreams by unfolding your unique potential.
The photo of Tina Turner was taken by Bob Gruen, the legendary Rock'n' Roll photographer, in 1984. Also he made his passion to his job and showed what is possible.
I had the great opportunity to talk to Bob Gruen in person when he presented his new book "Right Place. Right Time." at the ELECTRI_CITY Conference in Düsseldorf in autumn 2023. As part of the ELECTRI_CITY Conference some of his best pictures were shown in an extensive exhibition for the first time in Germany in the Weltkunstzimmer in Düsseldorf in autumn 2023.
At the age of fifteen, when I was a teenager, never ever I have thought that I will meet the photographer and show him my collage with one of his photos 34 years later. Magic happen. Everything is possible.
Never forget your dreams of your childhood and teenager time. These are the most precious dreams and you can bring them back to life again no matter how old you are.
